DETROIT (WWJ) – One down … and two to go … in the votes to ratify the final contract offers for Detroit’s three casinos.
WWJ Newsradio 950′s Gary Lundy spoke with Teamsters representative Shawn Ellis about Monday’s vote.
“Certainly it was a tough set of negotiations with the current economic climate here in Detroit … but the barginning teams worked hard on it, and the membership at Greektown Casino clearly saw the benefit and voted by a 3-1 margin for the agreement,” said Ellis.
The vote for the Greektown Casino contract was approved by 74% of the votes.
Union members vote Tuesday on the Motor City Casino offer and then on Thursday, members will vote on the MGM-Grand Casino offer.
Ellis says “each property stands on its own merit.”
