S3 Posts Another Record Year

DETROIT -- October marks Strategic Staffing Solutions' 21st year in business and its record of consecutive years of revenue growth continues.

S3 opened its doors in October of 1990 and is on track to hit more than $220 million in annual revenue in 2011. Additionally, S3 has donated more than $5 million to non-profit organizations, globally, since the company's inception.

In S3's 21st year in business, two major contributions to the company's growth were the expansion of its Detroit Development Center and the opening of three additional branch locations.

"On average, S3 has grown by 23 percent each year since we opened in 1990," said Cynthia J. Pasky, S3 founder, president and CEO. "We are able to do this because the S3 team takes a holistic approach to business. We don't just look at the service; we look at the company, its location, the economy and the community. We then create solutions that will serve all four, making a win-win-win for S3, our customers and the communities we serve globally."

In May, S3 celebrated the one year anniversary of the DDC, which also marked its expansion to two floors of Downtown Detroit's historic Penobscot Building. The DDC is S3's hub for managed services software BPO, ERP integration, Web and application development, and maintenance services.

The DDC was created to service its first anchor customer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, which made the strategic decision to outsource jobs to S3 in Detroit rather than an offshore location. S3 has been able to sell the DDC's services to five customers nationally and hire nearly 400 IT workers to accommodate the increase in business.

"We saw a demand and a need when creating the DDC," Pasky said. "The demand was for our customers to have an onshore option for IT services and the need was to stop the drain of jobs to offshore locations. We are happy this service has fulfilled its original intent and that other customers nationally see the value of insourcing to the DDC. We are shifting the national conversation about IT outsourcing and helping to make Detroit and the U.S. the center for technology service."

Additionally, in 2011 S3 opened branches in Denver, Colo. and Cheshire, England. The Denver branch is currently servicing six customers in energy, health care, financial services and technology. The Cheshire branch is the first outgrowth of S3's London-based operations, the Gibbs-S3 Partnership.

S3 commitment to the community also grew in its 21st year with nearly $1 million donated to charities globally.  Additionally, 2011 S3's two major fundraisers, the Grand Prix Shakedown and Detroit Charity Golf Outing, generated a $41,131 donation for 2-1-1 On the Go!. This is a Detroit homeless outreach program that was conceived by S3, in conjunction with the Downtown Detroit Partnership and the United Way for Southeast Michigan. Additionally, each of S3's 23 branch locations in the U.S. and Europe adopts a charity in the communities they serve and actively participate in its initiatives.

S3 provides consulting and staff augmentation services, vendor management programs, customized project solutions, a Detroit-based IT development center, call center technology and executive search services. S3 provides these services to Fortune 500 customers in financial, energy, telecommunications, government agencies, retail and health care industries.

Besides its Detroit headquarters, S3 has locations in the United States in Atlata, Ga., Boston, Mass., Los Angeles and San Francisco, Calif., Charlotte, N.C., Chicago, Denver, Colo., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Minneapolis, Minn., New Orleans, La., New York City, Philadelphia, Pa., Phoenix, Ariz., Richmond, Va., St. Louis, Mo., and Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin, Texas.

International locations are in Vilnius, Lithuania and London and Cheshire, U.K.
