UM Lands 1 Of Top Prep Hoop Players With McGary

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan has landed one of the nation's top prep basketball players with Mitch McGary's announcement that he plans to play for the Wolverines.

The 6-foot-10-inch, 250-pound power forward said on an ESPNU broadcast Thursday that he expects to enroll at the Ann Arbor school in the fall.

AnnArbor.com reported (http://j.mp/vckhVS ) that McGary also was considering Duke and Florida. He's from Chesterton, Ind., and attends Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. ESPN.com lists him as the No. 2 recruit in the nation.

McGary says the main reason for his decision is his comfort level with Michigan coach John Beilein and his staff.

Prep players can sign national letters of intent next Wednesday.
