Police: Car Stolen While Owner Inflated Tires

MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Police say a brazen thief stole a vehicle from a gas station while the car's owner was just feet away.

Madison Heights Police responded to a call of a stolen vehicle at the Shell gas station located at 11 Mile Rd. and John R around 2:20 p.m. Friday.

The victim said she was putting air in her SUV's tires when an unknown white male entered her vehicle. The victim attempted to retrieve her cell phone from the vehicle when the suspect pushed her to the ground and drove off in her vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 5'9" tall, 180lbs, blonde hair, last seen wearing a beige hat and a beige hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Taken was a tan-color 2003 Ford Explorer.
