DETROIT (WWJ) - November 11 marks the day when Americans everywhere honor and pay tribute to those military members who serve and have served the country.

As a small token of their appreciation, several restaurants, stores and entertainment venues are offering deals for service members on Veterans Day, such as free meals, discounts on merchandise and complimentary admissions.

Before heading out to take advantage of these deals, just make sure you have proof of military service, such as a Military ID card, Veteran’s Affair card, discharge papers or other form of identification. Many establishments require proof of service before discounting their services. It’s also a good idea to call ahead and verify a location’s participation.
