Church Distributes Free Hot Meals For The Homeless, Needy

DETROIT (WWJ) - On Saturday, Nov. 12, 911teen and its founder, Adam Heaphy, are planning to give away free hot meals to the needy and the homeless.

The meals will be distributed between 12 and 3 p.m. at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located at 15035 East 7 Mile in Detroit,  one block west of Hayes. No one will be turned away.

Heaphy said they expect to feed under 100 people at the event. But they're not stopping there.

911teen, a Michigan based licensed non-profit corporation that helps teens and youth in crisis, is planning to hold a free hot meal give away once a month.

Heaphy said the goal is to help the needy during these tough economic times, especially for those who lost welfare benefits recently.

Future goals of the organization include expanding the monthly give away to include free food baskets, blankets, hats and gloves.

Any volunteers wanting to donate food, gift cards, baskets, blankets or even volunteer can contact 911teen via email at founder@911teen.org or call 586-335-1767.
