MSU 76, Texas Southern 41

EAST LANSING (WWJ) - After an 0-2 start - Michigan State picks up its first win beating Texas Southern 76-41 on Friday night at the Breslin.

The Spartans were led by freshman Branden Dawson's 13 points, Draymond Green had 12 points, and (freshman) Travis Trice had 11.

The Spartans, as well as Texas, played a foul ridden game - followed by sub-par free throw shooting on both sides.

MSU got off to a 7-0 lead and was up 32-12 at the half. The Spartans were hitting over 46 percent of their shots compared to a dismal 17 percent by Texas Southern - each team improved in the second half but Michigan State never let go of the lead.

The Tigers (1-2) were led by Omar Strong with 12 points and Lawrence Johnson-Danner and Fred Sturdivant each had 10 points.

The Spartans take on Arkansas-Little Rock at the Breslin on Sunday.
