City lottery has no chance competing with Powerball type games. The sales of lotto type games are driven by the jackpot size. People are not interested in betting on something that is not a life changing event.
More revenues could be generated with some innovation – in particular with allowing direct to player distribution and certain level of interactivity. Obviously casino style gaming could also drive $$. But the question is: is there enough disposable income inside the city limits to fund any of these services? Probably not given some 20% + unemployment rate. And I just cannot see people traveling to DT to buy lottery/gaming products.

IT really is sad to see the city of my birth , and that I did most of growing up in become nothing more then a national joke, ghost of its former self. I left Michigan in 1993 for school, and things sucked then in Detroit. Now here almost 20 yrs on they have only gotten worse. The city government was, and is corrupt. The people have no pride of place, or community. I live in Northern Nevada now, and we have our problems as well, but nothing like Detroit.
The people need to kick out the the entire government, and people with fresh ideas, and have “TRUE” desire to help Detroit. Detroit could be great again. If the people truly want it to be. Get there hands dirt and clean up the filth, and rot.
