Red Wings Recall Tomas Tatar From Grand Rapids

Detroit, MI...The Detroit Red Wings today announced that forward Tomas Tatar has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Tatar has appeared in 26 games for the Griffins this season, posting 21 points (7-14-21) and 17 PIM. In 154 career AHL games, he has collected 110 points (47-63-110), 74 PIM and a +22 rating.

Tatar, 21, was Detroit's second selection (second round, 60th overall) in the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft. The Ilava, Slovakia, native appeared in nine games for Detroit during the 2010-11 season. He scored in his NHL debut on December 31, 2010, a 4-3 OT loss to the New York Islanders.

To make room for Tatar on the active roster, the Red Wings have placed forward Chris Conner on Injured Reserve. Conner suffered a broken hand in Tuesday night's 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins and is expected to miss two weeks. Conner was recalled by Detroit on November 30 and has recorded three points (1-2-3) and a +2 rating in six games with the Red Wings this season.
