Grand Valley Plans Meet Between Health Care, Education: Grand Valley State University is among the sponsors of a two-day conference that focuses on continuing to build and improve interprofessional relationships among West Michigan health care providers and educational institutions. The fourth annual Interprofessional Education and Practice Conference will be held Jan. 5-6 at the DeVos Center on GVSU's Pew Grand Rapids Campus. Register online by Dec. 20 at www.gvsu.edu/vphealth; there is no charge to attend. Keynote speakers are experts in health care reform and interprofessional education. They are Mandy Lowe, from the University of Toronto; Robert Graham, program director for Aligning Forces for Health; and Deborah Gardner, senior advisor of Bureau of Health Professions. Jean Nagelkerk, vice provost for health at Grand Valley, said conference participants will learn the progress of the West Michigan Interprofessional Education Initiative, research and practice applications and discuss contributions to health care quality and efficiency. Other conference sponsors include the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
