Enjoy Movies With Your Family This Holiday Season

DETROIT (WWJ) - Going to the movies is a holiday tradition for many families. In fact, the week between Christmas and New Years is the busiest week of the year for local theatres.

Hollywood knows this, and Ruth Daniels from Emagine Theatres said Tinsel Town has loaded up the blockbusters for moviegoers.

"If you've got kids and you want to go with the family, 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' is playing and 'The Adventures of Tin Tin,' which is an excellent film, 'We Bought a Zoo' is showing. We got "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' if you're looking for more of a thriller and then for action films you've got 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Mission Impossible,'" said Daniels.

Daniels points out that Christmas Day has become such a popular movie day that most theatres now open on the holiday at 10am, and it is a family affair as well.

"Families come together absolutely, especially during the holidays. This holiday season, I have to tell you, in all my years doing this there are more family movies than there has ever been. I mean, we had probably movies that were good for children and the whole family, we've had six of them and that's amazing for one holiday season," said Daniels.
