Volunteers Sought For Huron River Stonefly Search

ANN ARBOR (AP) - A nonprofit group is seeking volunteers to help search the Huron River this month for winter stoneflies.

The Huron River Watershed Council says the annual search is part of a long-term river study and takes place Jan. 28. Registration closes Jan. 20.

The sensitive aquatic insects are seen as an indicator of water quality.

Participants will meet in Ann Arbor before traveling in groups to locations in Livingston, Oakland, Wayne and Washtenaw counties.

Details are posted on the Huron River Watershed Council's website.
