Fun, Fitness and Fundraising The Goal Of Many For Heat And Warmth Fund

DETROIT (WWJ)- Some employees working in downtown Detroit are pledging to help raise money to help keep metro Detroiters warm this winter.

Employees of Compuware and Quicken Loan are signing up for the Fitness Challenge for THAW-- where they'll work out to raise money for the Heat & Warm Fund at the Wellness Center inside the Compuware building.

Bob Jakes tells WWJ Beth Fisher that he's signed up to raise money for THAW.

"I'm going to be riding the bike - I'm not a treadmill guy - this is the fourth year I've been doing this - I'll be riding for an hour raising money, lots of money I hope," said Jakes.

Bruce Krauskoph is riding a bike for the fifth year:

"I help out because there are enough needy people around here - more than enough to go around, that are going to the need help this winter- again, " said Krauskoph.

Employees get pledges and they sign up to use a tred-mill-- a bike or an elliptical machine.

Some signing up say the need is great for THAW and that's why they help.

The WWJ  Winter Survival Radiothon for THAW will be held January 27th and 28th at the Henry Ford in Dearborn.
