Man Found Dead With Arrow In Chest

HOWELL (WWJ) - Police in Howell are investigating the death of a man found in a parking lot with an arrow in his chest.

According to reports, police responded to a call about a possible slip and fall at an apartment complex near M-59 where they found the man dead with an arrow in his chest. They also found a crossbow lying nearby.

The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Chris Martin Allen from Northern Michigan near Wellston. Police said he'd been staying with relatives at the apartment complex since the holidays.

State Police are assisting Howell Police in the investigation.

"We are still in the early stages of the investigation," said Howell Police Chief George Basar in a media release. "Given the unusual nature of the death this matter is being treated as a homicide at this time as the investigation continues."

An autopsy was expected to be performed by the Livingston County Medical Examiner on Wednesday.
