Step up punk. Those were the words Floyd Mayweather tweeted to Manny Pacquiao this week. More tweets followed about how he wanted to fight Pacquiao May 5th in Las Vegas. This of course once again gave fight fans false hope that a mega fight would finally happen between the two. Like I’ve written before I don’t think this fight will ever happen. Call me a skeptic but I’ve seen Lucy pull the football from Charlie Brown way too many times. People say that there is too much money to be made for this fight not to happen and how will we find out who is truly the pound for pound king? Even though a fight between the two champions would shatter all pay per view records the last time I checked Mayweather and Pacquiao aren’t struggling to pay their bills and both hold multiple belts. Whether its date, location, testing, weight class or purse split the list of obstacles are endless. Throw in the fact that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum hates Mayweather’s camp I just don’t see this fight ever happening. Hopefully I’m wrong and we will see these two fight soon. Otherwise by the time they do fight, fans won’t care anymore and that would be worse than them not ever fighting at all.
