IOWA (WWJ) - Trey Burke scored a team high 19 but it was not enough as the No. 13 Michigan Wolverines fall to the Iowa Hawkeyes 75-59 on Saturday at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
As heard on WWJ Newsradio 950 – the Wolverines (14-4) could not gain offensive momentum against the (11-8) Iowa team and never could sustain the lead the few times they had it.
Zack Novak scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds – Tim Hardaway and Stu Douglas each had 9 pts.
“It was tough when Trey (Burke) got in foul trouble – as a result we were in a transition game all day today,” said Wolverine head coach John Beilein.
Michigan shot just 38% on the day – hitting 20 of 52 field goal attempts.
“The shot clock does not determine the shot … we couldn’t sustain any lead – we had eight turnovers in the game,” said Beilein. “We’ve just got to keep working and working – we haven’t had to comeback in too many games – we didn’t do that well.”
Matt Gatens scored 19 pts. followed by Roy Devyn Marble 13 pts. for the Iowa in the Hawkeye win.
