Search Delayed For Body Spotted Near Grosse Ile
GROSSE ILE (WWJ) - A Coast Guard search for a body reported to be in the water near Grosse Ile has been delayed by the weather. A Petty Officer says their helicopter has been grounded because of the fog and rainy weather.
A person driving over the bridge to Grosse Ile called police on Monday to report seeing a body. That call came in just five days after 28-year-old Kent Morton fell from scaffolding into the river while doing maintenance work on the Ambassador Bridge.
An initial search between the bridge and the Boblo Island docks where Morton was last seen turned up no sign of the Garden City man. A brief search was conducted Monday but nothing was found.
