Teen Hit By SUV Driven By Another Teen

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A 17-year-old Mount Clemens High School student is hospitalized after he was hit by an SUV driven by another student.

Macomb County  Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said, according to witnesses tell deputies they observed a pedestrian sprint across Cass Ave. near Groesbeck  into the pathway of a 2005 black Ford Escape.

The area was dark at 7 a.m. when the accident occurred and the student was wearing dark clothes.  The driver and three others inside the SUV said they didn't see the teenager crossing the street. Investigators said it doesn't appear the student driving the Escape was at fault.

The teen was taken to McLaren-Macomb Hospital where he was undergoing CAT Scans and other tests.  He was reported in stable condition later Wednesday.

The driver, an 18-year-old girl who is also a student at  Mount Clemens High, was not injured in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
