Funeral Set For Baby Killed In Detroit Crossfire

As police untangle what led to the shooting death of 9-month-old Delric Miller, the baby's family set up his funeral.

Miller was killed in what police termed a "walk-by shooting" at Tireman and Southfield early Monday when his home was hit 37 times by fire from a semi-automatic weapon.

Visitation for Miller will be held from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday at the O.H. Pye III Funeral Home, 17600 Plymouth Road. A funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A community gathering called the Thou Shall Not Kill Motorcade will gather at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3600 Van Dyke, in response to the baby's killing.

Detroit minister and activist Malik Shabazz, along with Detroit school officials, will host a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Community Center, 3451 Rivard.

"I think there is outrage in our community," Detroit Councilwoman Saunteel Jenkens told WWJ Newsradio 950. "Every month we have people join us who are outraged by the amount of violence that's impacting young people in our city, but one of the things we have to do is get these guns off the street."

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information can leave an anonymous tip at (800) SPEAK-UP or call the Detroit police homicide division at (313) 596-2260.
