New Web Site For Intelligent Transportation Society of Michigan

SOUTHFIELD -- The Intelligent Transportation Society of Michigan, a non-profit organization representing public- and private-sector organizations involved in transportation technology and advocating the use of intelligent transportation systems to save lives, time and money, has launched a new Web site at www.itsmichigan.org.

"This Web site is a portal to the organization, providing information for those interested in learning about ITS or ITS Michigan as well as a resource for organization members," said ITS Michigan president Edwin Tatem, who is president and area manager of Parsons Brinckerhoff Michigan, the local branch of a global engineering and construction firm.

Among other things, the site provides background information on the organization, a listing of current members, information about membership and organization events as well as news related to the organization and to ITS in general.

ITS Michigan members include private corporations, public agencies and academic institutions involved in the research, development, design, sales, installation and deployment of ITS technologies. The organization provides a central point of contact where representatives of industry, government and academia can find common ground and work together toward mutual ITS-related goals.

In addition to advocacy, ITS Michigan provides a forum that allows a diverse group of people to provide insight on current ITS projects as well as develop and refine ideas for the future. It is the state's chapter of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America).

ITS America is the leading national advocate for ITS technologies that improve the safety, security and efficiency of the nation's surface transportation system.
