Energy Sciences Completes Lighting Upgrades

BIRMINGHAM -- Birmingham-based Energy Sciences Resource Partners LLC said Wednesday that it had completed a pair of federally funded lighting upgrades.

West Bloomfield Township received a federal stimulus grant for energy efficiency lighting upgrades for their municipal buildings. The township selected Energy Sciences in mid-2011 to pilot, design and install energy-efficient lighting systems for the township hall, main police station and four fire stations. The project consisted of replacement and upgrades of more than 1,100 light fixtures including design and installation of occupancy sensors throughout the Township Hall and Police Station. Energy Sciences secured and obtained over $22,000 in utility rebates for the Township which will be used towards future energy efficiency measures.

Energy Sciences also completed a multi-phase energy project for the City of Madison Heights. The goal of this project was to support the City's goal to achieve a 25 percent reduction in the use of non-renewable energy by the year 2015 from the baseline year of 2005. The scope of work encompassed; grant and rebate application services, energy strategy development, energy reporting, and HVAC optimization and lighting energy efficiency upgrades with controls. These measures were implemented at the City Hall, 43rd District Court House, Senior Citizen Center, Police Department, Library, Fire Stations, Nature Center and the Department of Public Services facilities.  Implementing these upgrades will save Madison Heights nearly $60,000 annually in utilities and reduce green house gas emissions by an estimated 395 metric tons.  Energy Sciences also secured and obtained over $40,000 in local utility rebates for the City.
