Awful Third Quarter Doesn't Cost Pistons
--The Pistons managed to beat the Lakers despite scoring nine points in the third quarter, matching their lowest-scoring quarter this season. They also scored nine at Chicago in the fourth quarter Jan. 9. Detroit missed its first 14 shots of the half, including nine lay-ups or tip-ins. They shot 4 of 24 during the quarter.
"We showed resolve," coach Lawrence Frank said. "We went 6-1/2 minutes without scoring. We actually had some great shots, we just didn't make them."
