Pets Of The Week: Penny For Your Thoughts

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Good-natured Penny was found nearly a year ago wandering the streets of Detroit, hungry and mangy.

She was picked up by the Michigan Humane Society and nursed back to health at the MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care, where she joined the Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan's prison program. It teaches dogs how to be canine good citizens with the help of the specially trained inmates at the Florence Crane and Lakeland Correctional Facilities in Coldwater.

No longer hungry and terrified, Penny with the light green eyes knows 27 different commands and is an unabashed cuddle bug.

But her success story isn't finished yet, because she still doesn't have a forever home. She's been waiting patiently for almost a year. Can you make her dreams come true?

For more information, contact Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan at (517) 238-9241, or visit them online at www.rpsm.us.
