DETROIT (WWJ) – The head of Kronk gym is hosting a Pre- St. Patrick’s day brawl Saturday night.

One of the fighters featured will be Andy Lee, who is currently the national middle-weight champion.

Lee says he expects crowds to be cheering tonight at the Suburban Collection showplace in Novi– but, believe it or not, that doesn’t happen everywhere he competes.

“You know there is a great history of boxing here in America and they are very knowledgible fans. In Germany, it’s a different atmosphere, they don’t really get excited, they don’t cheer while the fight is going on. After every round they give applause but while the fight is going on it’s like your inside a church, it’s so quiet, you know? said Lee.

Lee is from Ireland, and spent time training at the Kronk location in Belfast before legendary local trainer Emanual Steward recruited him to train here.
