Calvin Johnson Makes A Caller's Day
DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) Calvin Johnson signed the NFL's richest contract today worth $130 million with $60 million guaranteed. What did he do next? He called into the Karsch and Anderson show and talked to one of his most excitable fans.
Show hosts were talking to caller Tabari about Johnson's contract extension with the Lions when Tabari said he "couldn't be more happy for Calvin, man ... This is probably one of his best years in the league ... He's not no diva he just goes about his job quietly."
"Why don't you tell him yourself?" Karsch asked Tabari, who didn't know Johnson was on another line. "I heard him, I appreciate it," Johnson said, laughing.
An astonished Tabari could barely contain himself, shouting thanks and congratulations. He was overwhelmed to say the least.
"I'm so happy for you man, you deserve it, -- if my son knew I was talking to you right now, he would go crazy, he's 9 years old," Tabari said. "His teacher asked him the other day what he wanted to be and he said 'I want to be a running back for the Detroit Lions.'"
