Wolverines Lose CCHA Tournament To Broncos 3-2

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Michigan Wolverines rallied in the 3rd period but fall short losing to the Western Michigan Broncos 3-2 Saturday in the CCHA Tournament Championship at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

The Wolverines were down 3-0 at the end of two periods - Kevin Clare gave Michigan their first sign of life scoring  a short-handed goal in the third period.

Luke Moffatt followed minutes later with a power-play goal for the Wolverines making it 3-2 with minutes left on the power-play but the Wolverines could not convert for the tying goal.

Ian Slater, Dane Walters and Chase Balisy all scored for the Broncos in the first two periods and were able to hang on to the one goal lead to take the  2012 CCHA Tournament Championship.

The win gives the Broncos an automatic berth into the NCAA Hockey tournament.
