Turner, Crosby Out Of Rotation Race, At Least For Now
The candidates for the open spot in the Detroit rotation are thinning themselves out.
The Tigers, facing a shortage of innings to dole out as the starters lengthen their outings, optioned one candidate, left-hander Casey Crosby, back to Triple-A on March 15.
A few days earlier right-hander Jacob Turner saw his bid stalled by right shoulder tendinitis. He will be shut down for a week before a reevaluation.
"Please don't print that Turner's out of the running, because he's not," Leyland said. "Does it lessen his chances somewhat? I would think common sense would tell you all that without asking me that."
