250 Protest DTE Energy Costs

DETROIT (WWJ) – Despite the unseasonable hot weather, protesters picketed for more than an hour outside of DTE headquarters demanding more action from the utility company to help people whose power has been shut off.

watch. The crowd of about 250 people are angry over high energy costs, demanded a meeting with DTE officials.

Their signs read, “I’m part of the 99%,” or “I pay more in taxes than DTE.”

“DTE has gotten a tax break,” said Rev. W. J. Rideout of Detroit.  “It’s time that they give some of that money have to our elders, our seniors, our low-income residents.”

Rideout said that, although DTE is helping some people, he doesn’t think they’re doing enough.”We’re constantly seeing shut-offs, and we’re constantly seeing people who are hurting.”

DTE spokesperson Len Singer said there are programs in place to help those who have trouble paying their energy bills. (Hear what he had to say below).

This is no surprise. The same attitude prevails among what is laughingly called Detroit’s leaders.

More of the something for nothing crowd. Hey, religious leaders: do more for your flocks. Teach them how to conserve. You know, just because you poop, Kimberley-Clark does not owe you toilet paper.

Do these people realize thier dear leader obummer created this spike in energy cost with his policies? I don’t think they are intelligent enough to connect the dots! They voted for this failure and deserve everything they have coming to them! Thank God I moved out of this cesspool long ago!

  4. Bigdog says:

Yeah they got a tax break because obummer made sure those that donate to his campaign get those breaks! Obummer has done more harm to the black community, yet they are to stupid to see it! With 95% of the black race voting for this fraud they deserve the hoodwinking they get…talk about a stupid, ignorant race of people!

And my point is well qualified by some of the comments given above. Detroit’s biggest problem is racism in black and white. But then Detroit brought together a wide variety of humanity just to make cars. We don’t do that anymore leaving the multi-cultures alone to fight among themselves. If more people from all groups improved their intellects, understanding, ambition and industry no telling what Detroit could do instead of decline.
