Andy Oliver Optioned To Toledo; Who Should Be The Tigers 5th Starter?

The Detroit Tigers announced today that they have optioned LHP Andy Oliver to Toledo. Oliver was in the race for the Tigers 5th starter. For the spring Oliver had a 5.17 ERA, over 15.2 IP with 10 strike outs and 10 walks. Hitters had a .193 AVG. In Oliver's last start he went 3 innings and gave up 6 earned runs.

The Tigers competition for the 5th starter is now down to Duane Below and Drew Smyly. Smyly for the spring has a 2.84 ERA over 12.2 IP. Smyly has also recorded 10 strike outs and 5 walks. Below has a 4.38 ERA over 12.1 IP. Below has recorded 8 strike outs and 6 walks.
