The awkward relationship between Isiah Thomas and Florida International University came to an end Friday when the school removed the Hall of Famer as its men’s basketball coach, a source told CBSSports.com.
FIU subsequently confirmed the news with a released statement.
“We want to thank Isiah Thomas for his three years here at FIU,” said Florida International executive director of sports and entertainment Pete Garcia. “However, we have decided to take the program in a different direction.”
