Pets Of The Week: Hybrid Edition

View Comments
Hi, I’m Topeka! I’m a 6-month-old Chihuahua/Shepherd mix who came to the Michigan Humane Society as a hungry and neglected stray. Today, I’m happy and healthy and looking for my new forever family! I’ve still got a bit of growing to do, but I shouldn’t end up being more than 30 pounds, which is good, because I really do enjoy snuggling up with you on the couch! The adoption fee includes sterilization, age-appropriate vaccinations, the MHS adoption guarantee and much more! For more information, please visit or call the MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care at (313) 872-3400 and provide the pet ID number, 709624. Photo courtesy Michigan Humane Society.

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) If there’s anything we’ve learned from the Detroit auto industry, it’s that hybrids are hot.

Why not have one of your own? A pet hybrid, that is. Check out Topeka, a 6-month-old Chihuahua/Shepherd mix who came to the Michigan Humane Society as a hungry and neglected stray.

A chihuahua bred with a German Shepherd? Turns out it’s a great mix. Topeka is a happy and healthy guy looking for a new forever family. He’s still got a bit of growing to do, but shouldn’t end up being more than 30 pounds, which staffers say “is good, because I really do enjoy snuggling up with you on the couch!”
