Wings Beat Nashville 3-2

NASHVILLE (WWJ) - A two goal first period set the tone and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Nashville Predators 3-2 during game 2 of the best of  7 series on Friday night.

As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - the Red Wings came out swinging as Todd Bertuzzi immediately went after Shea Weber in the opening minutes of the game - getting a five minute fighting penalty for the effort as did Weber.

Bertuzzi had his eye on Weber in retaliation for his hit on Henrik Zetterberg - slamming his head into the boards in game 1. Shea was fined $2,500 by the NHL for the hit but did not receive a suspension.

Ian White and Cory Emmerton put the Red Wings ahead in the first period giving Detroit a lead they would not relinquish.

Andrei Kostitsyn put the Predators on the board in the second period and Johan Franzen quickly followed up with a goal to keep the Wings' two goal lead.

Shea Weber put in a backhand goal but it was too little too late and Detroit held on to even the series at one-all.

The series continues in Detroit on Sunday at noon - tune in to 97.1 The Ticket Sunday at 11:40 a.m. for all the game action.
