CHICAGO (WWJ) – Gerald Laird hits a solo homer for Detroit and the Tigers go on to beat the Chicago White Sox 5-2 on Sunday.

As heard on WXYT 1270 – the Tigers take the final game in the three game series against the White Sox.

Rick Porcello pitched just over seven innings allowing five hits, one run and striking out four. Dayan Viciedo hit a solo shot to center off Porcello.

The Tigers scored in the fifth inning when Jhonny Peralta ran home on a wild pitch and in the sixth inning Detroit scored once again on a wild pitch that sent Rayn Raburn home to make it 3-0.

The White Sox picked up another run off reliever Jose Valverde in the ninth but the Tigers were able to close the door on Chicago to salvage one game in the three game series against the White Sox.
