Teacher Job Fair Takes Place On EMU Campus

YPSILANTI (WWJ) - Eastern Michigan University is hosting the state's largest teacher job fair Tuesday. More than 230 recruiters will be on hand representing public schools, academies and related education employers.

Barbara Jones, EMU's Senior Corporate Relations Manager, says the job fair is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

"It is for teachers to help them meet with hiring officials, hopefully get a job and it is part of a consortium of several of the big schools in Michigan. We do this every year and we do one week of interviewing at five different universities," said Jones.

"I'm starting to see an increase in elementary and I actually saw some for social sciences this year, so we are starting to see other areas break out with some of the schools trying to hire some of these candidates," noted Jones.

Jones believes teaching opportunities are on the rise this year.

The job fair runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the EMU Convocation Center.

Walk-ins are welcome - the cost is $15.
