Police Officers Injured After Being Hit By Car

INKSTER (WWJ) - Two Inkster police officers were injured after being hit by a car overnight.

Police say the incident happened on Inkster Road at Princeton, just south of Michigan Avenue, late Thursday night.

Sgt. Sean Adams said officers stopped a vehicle on John Daly and Princeton while working on a security detail. He said the car took off toward the officers, who then fired their guns.

"Two of our officers were injured when a car struck them. From there we've since turned it over to the Michigan State Police," Adams told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

The officers were taken to the hospital for treatment and were released.

The suspect is still at large. Police did, however, recover the car that struck the officers.

Adams said they are seeking one suspect at this point, but declined to comment as to what the surveillance detail was about.

An investigation is ongoing.
