US Senior Open Comes To Indianwood (Lesson On Golf Blog)

By: Jeff Lesson

We haven't had tour quality golf here in Michigan since the Buick Open left us in 2009.  We haven't had a major here since the 2008 PGA Championship at Oakland Hills.  But this year it all changes.

The USGA (United States Golf Association) is bringing the U.S. Senior Open to the historic Old Course at The Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion July 9-15.

Indianwood is no stranger to major championship golf, having hosted the 1989 and 1994 U.S. Women's Open.  The USGA liked the job that Indianwood did so much they had always intended to bring another even back to the historic Old Course.
The reason it took so long was the presence of the Ford Senior Players championship at The TPC of Michigan in Dearborn until a few years ago.

It should be a great week, with nearly all of the big names on the Champions Tour having already committed to play.  This includes fan favorites Fred Couples and Tom Watson.

Tickets are a bargain and parking is free!
