Detroit Red Wings To Be Featured In HBO's 24/7

DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) Two members of hockey's storied Original Six -- the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs -- will be featured on HBO's "24/7" this year as a lead up to the Winter Classic. "24/7" is a show created to give sports fans an uncensored behind-the- scenes look into the world of the NHL.

This time around, viewers will get a glimpse into the Red Wings' locker room they would never otherwise see leading up to the Wings hosting the Leafs Jan. 1, 2013, at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor for the 2013 Winter Classic.

"This Winter Classic should be the biggest one ever because Detroit is Hockeytown," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said when announcing the Classic earlier this  year.

The "24/7" news comes after it was questioned whether the show would return for its third season following a change at the top of HBO Sports. However NHL COO John Collins confirmed "24/7" will return. Collins' did say there will be a few changes to the show this year, with the NHL becoming more involved in production.

"To the fan, they won't see any difference in production whatsoever. We're not going to limit access. We're not going to change any approval rights. There won't be anything different about this," Collins said, according to CBSSports.
