DETROIT (WWJ) – There were fewer flights out of metro airport for the first three months of 2012, but passenger traffic was up by 2.6 percent.

A total of more than 7.3 million passengers arrived or departed as of March 31. The largest increase came out of the international terminal where the increase in passengers was more than 9 percent greater than the first quarter of 2011.

Wayne County Transportation Authority officials say they’re pleased with the growth.
