During the third period of Sweden’s 7-3 loss to Russia at the World Championships on Friday, Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen was on the receiving end of a cross-check to the face delivered by Dmitry Kalinin.

Franzen suffered a broken nose as a result of the hit, and as you can see from the video below, there was an awful lot of blood pouring out from his face.
