Girl Hit By Falling Bolt From Ferris Wheel

ST. CLAIR SHORES (AP) - Officials say a bolt that fell from a Ferris wheel at a church festival in suburban Detroit struck a girl in the head.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports the ride was temporarily closed Friday at the St. Joan of Arc Spring Festival in St. Clair Shores. Blake Huston, general manager for North American Midway Entertainment, says the girl had a cut on her head but wasn't seriously injured.

Huston says the cut was bandaged and her family was given some free ride passes. The ride was inspected by the state before it reopened Friday evening.

Huston said it wasn't clear how the bolt came loose. North American Midway Entertainment owns the rides used at the festival.
