Dearborn Schools' Track Event To Honor Robert Cipriano

DEARBORN (WWJ) - A special event has been announced by Dearborn Schools in honor of Robert Cipriano, who was the district's business manager.

Superintendent Brian Whiston said they wanted to create a living memorial of the elder Cipriano, an avid runner in the midst of creating a
running program for students.

"By focusing on running, creating an opportunity for kids to develop a healthy lifestyle, it honors Bob not only today, but will honor him every year as we continue to celebrate his life," Whiston said, adding that they're also doing a scholarship program in his name for high school students.

The Robert Cipriano Memorial Cross Country Meet will be held every fall, coming up October 19, expected to include over 500 elementary and middle school students.

They will also be selling rose-colored bracelets in honor of Robert's wife Rose and his son Sal inscribed with the words "Just Keep Loving People" the words from Tanner Cipriano's message at his father's funeral.

Bracelets available at the Dearborn Schools Communications Office or, for quantities over 100, email:
David Mustonen mustond@dearbornk12.mi.us or Linda Donovan donovaL@dearbronk12.mi.us

Robert Cipriano, 52, was beaten to death on April 16 in his Farmington Hills home. His 19-year-old son, Tucker Cipriano has been charged with murder in the case, along with his friend, Mitchel Young.
