St. Clair Shores And Westland To Honor Vets With Parade

ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) - More than 80,000 people expected to participate in Memorial Day festivities in St. Clair Shores Sunday.

Events kicked off at noon with a 5K run and walk, following by a parade at 1:00, which kicks off at the intersection of Harper and Little Mack avenues.

Speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950, Parade Committee chairman Robert Montgomery says 30 different military units will be participating.

"We've also brought over the U.S. Navy Band from Great Lakes, Illinois ... that's like our premiere muscial unit for today," said Montgomery.

"It's a great little bedroom community, they just understand the people who have given the ultimate price for their freedom, and they've never lost sight of that," added Montgomery.

Montgomery's advice is to get there early to try and beat the crowds.
