Mario Andretti Shows WWJ, Detroit How To Race At Grand Prix

BELLE ISLE (WWJ) - It's a ride she'll never forget. WWJ's Kathryn Larson got to jump into a two-seat IndyCar with the legendary Mario Andretti behind the wheel.

Andretti is ready to drive and says he's thrilled to be back in the Motor City.

"It feels great. I just love that this venue is back operating for us and I look forward to it," he said.

The Belle Isle Grand Prix is even more special for Andretti because racing is a family affair -- both his son and grandson Marco will be competing this year.

The 72-year-old retired racer is showing no signs of slowing down, and he can't wait to show Detroit his mad racing skills.

"I'm just happy to be back here. Detroit has always been very supportive, a great host city. I'd love to see this continue," he said.
