DETROIT (WWJ) – Looking for a job? You might want to reconsider that tattoo you’ve been thinking about.
A new report says people with visible tattoos are finding it hard to find employment.
Certified Laser Specialist John Motyka, of Elite Ink, says even though tattooing is at an all-time high in terms of popularity … some employers may discriminate against people with them.
“If somebody does their homework, they can decide where to put it … there’s nothing wrong with a beautiful tattoo done in a tasteful manner,” said Motyka.
He says getting a tattoo is definitely not a decision that should be made lightly.
“Because this lessens the likelihood of buyers remorse; also it allows someone to really decide if they want a permanent tattoo because removal is painful and it’s not an easy process,”said Motyka.
Motyka says most of the tattoos he removes are those with people’s names. His advice: if you really want to tattoo someone’s name on your body, make it a blood relative.
