DH Gerald Laird (right hamstring tightness) left the June 1 game. Manager Jim Leyland said he hoped to have Laird back for the June 5 game against Cleveland.

–C Alex Avila (right hamstring tightness) sat out June 2 and 3. He said he hoped to be able to play June 5 when Detroit’s three-game set with Cleveland begins.

–LF Andy Dirks (right Achilles tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 31.

–CF Austin Jackson (abdominal soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 17. He was still experiencing soreness as of May 29, and as of June 1 expected to step up his baseball work after a week of relative inactivity. He was expected to return to action by June 8 or 9.
