According to figures from PGA Performance Trak of the PGA of America, Golf rounds in Michigan were up more than 70% in the month of April of this year compared to April of 2011.   This was based on information provided by over 100 courses around the state.

One has to wonder how much of this is due to the early Spring we had this year, especially compared to awful Spring we had last year.

Recent numbers from the National Golf Foundation seem to fly right in the face of the PGA of America data.  The NGF says the number of golfers have decreased 20% in the USA between 2005 and 2010.

Bottom line. We still have too many golf courses and not enough golfers to fill them.  Great for the golfer.  Not so great for the course operator.
