Swim Coach Accused Of Having Sex With Teen Boys

CHARLOTTE (AP) - A science teacher and swim coach at Grand Ledge High School is facing sexual assault charges involving two male students.

Jason Algra was arraigned Monday in Eaton County District Court on three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and five counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Senior Assistant Prosecutor Kelly Morton says the first-degree CSC charges involve sexual penetration of a student who is at least 13 but younger than 16 and the third-degree CSC charges involve sexual penetration with a student who is at least 16 but younger than 18.

The Associated Press left messages for defense attorney Frank Reynolds on Tuesday.

Grand Ledge school officials say they learned of misconduct allegations against Algra in October and immediately placed the 32-year-old Grand Ledge resident on administrative leave with pay.
