Michigan's Hoke: 2nd Year Usually Harder Than 1st

LARRY LAGE, AP Sports Writer

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP)  Michigan coach Brady Hoke says leading a team for a second season is usually harder than the first.

Hoke spoke Wednesday at a Michigan AP Sports Editors meeting.

The Wolverines will open their second year under Hoke against Alabama on Sept. 1 at Cowboys Stadium.

Hoke says it doesn't make a difference who is coaching at Ohio State in recruiting, adding it has never been about who's the coaching the programs. He insists the focus on playing the Buckeyes hasn't lessened the importance of the Michigan State series, saying the Wolverines haven't done their job against the Spartans during a four-year losing streak.

Hoke says his seniors were on a working trip when they recently went to Southern California to train with Navy SEALs and visit the Rose Bowl.
