LeBron James Is The NBA

By: Terry Foster

I know a number of you will disagree with that. You will cringe to read this and you will tell me how much you hate the man. You might be right. But bad sells. James is the guy wearing the black hat. He is the man you want to see fail.

But like I said bad sells.

The Miami Heat is now the James Gang. He is the leader of the pack even ahead of Dwayne Wade. D Wade even admitted as much saying the Heat will go as far as James during the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

That, however, is not the reason why James is the NBA now. Many of you will watch the NBA Finals because of James and the Heat. You want to see him fail. You want to see him go 1-for-15 in the fourth quarter and gag away leads. You want to see that confused look on his face where he doesn't know where to turn next.

The guy wears a target where ever he goes. The Heat did not fail. James failed. The Heat did not falter in the fourth quarter. James did.

People will lie and say they are watching the NBA Finals for the feel good story. They will say they want to see Kevin Durant win for a small market. He and Oklahoma City is a feel good story. People will say it and some fools will believe it.

If that was the case then why did the Heat set records for cable viewing in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics? Why did the ratings sky rocket even more when you thought the Celtics were going to steal the series? You wanted to see James fail.

That is one of the reasons Muhammad Ali was so popular. Many wanted to see "The Greatest" box. Many more wanted to see him fail.

We watched Michael Jordan because he was so spectacular.

We watched Larry Bird because he represented being the great white hope even though he did not want to carry that banner.

We watched Magic Johnson because he was, well, magic.

We watch James hoping someone brings him to his knees.

That is why James is the NBA.
