Somerset Collection Takes Aim At Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - More shopping is available for visitors to downtown Detroit this weekend.
W WJ's Pat Sweeting reports that the Somerset Collection Boutique is back in action on Woodward near Grand River in Detroit.
Somerset Collection spokeswoman Lynda MacIntosh explains the idea behind the temporary retail boutique.
"This is called a 'pop-up' shop and they are very popular in New York - and Detroit is way cooler than New York - so we might as well do it here too," said MacIntosh.
"What happens is once a month for a long weekend, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we bring a handful of our retailers. We come in - we have kind of speed shopping for three days - we close - we regroup, and we bring forty more retailers next month," she said.
Among the Somerset merchants represented; Macy's Bridal, Henri Bendel, Montblanc and Tapper's Jewelers.
